Introduction
When I want to plan a short trip without traveling too far, Connaught Place, or CP, is one of my favorite choices. Its circular streets, historic buildings, shopping spots, cafés, and nearby attractions make it easy to create a fun day with friends or people who share my interests.
1. Central Park
I like starting my CP trip at Central Park because it gives me a relaxed place to begin. I can sit, walk around, take pictures, or simply enjoy a conversation before exploring the busier streets. CP’s central park sits between the inner and outer circles.
2. Janpath Market
I always find Janpath interesting when I want to browse something different. I can explore clothing, accessories, handicrafts, and other colorful items while walking through the market. It is also a good stop when I want to mix shopping with sightseeing.
3. Palika Bazaar
For me, Palika Bazaar adds a completely different atmosphere to a CP visit. Its underground market is packed with shops and offers plenty to explore. I enjoy walking around and discovering interesting things instead of following a strict sightseeing schedule.
4. Agrasen Ki Baoli
I would definitely add Agrasen Ki Baoli to my plan. This historic stepwell is only a short walk from CP and provides a peaceful change from the busy streets. Its unusual architecture also makes it a memorable stop for photographs.
5. Jantar Mantar
I like including Jantar Mantar when I want my short trip to have a little history. The famous astronomical instruments make the visit different from simply shopping or eating. Since it is close to CP, I can easily include it in a walking-based day plan.
6. Gurudwara Bangla Sahib
I often consider Gurudwara Bangla Sahib when planning a peaceful Delhi outing. Its beautiful surroundings and calm atmosphere can provide a welcome break from CP’s crowds. It is close enough to combine with a CP visit, making it useful for a fuller day itinerary.
7. The Big Chill
When I want a comfortable café break, THE BIG CHILL is one option I would consider. Its CP location makes it convenient during a day of exploring, and it is known for Italian-style comfort food and desserts.
8. United Coffee House
I would choose United Coffee House when I want my meal to feel connected with CP’s heritage. The restaurant dates back to the 1940s and remains one of the area’s well-known dining landmarks.
9. Caffè Tonino
For a relaxed café-style stop, I can add Caffè Tonino to my plan. It is located in the H Block area of CP and offers another option when I want to sit down, have something to eat, and continue chatting with my companions.
10. Connaught Place’s Colonnades
Finally, I never consider a CP trip complete without simply walking around its iconic white colonnades. CP is designed around two circular areas, so I can explore the architecture, shops, street activity, and small discoveries without needing a complicated itinerary.
How I Would Plan a CP Trip With New People
Make the Day Simple
If I am planning a small outing with people I recently met through chatting, I prefer choosing public places and keeping the itinerary simple. I can start at Central Park, explore Janpath, visit one nearby attraction, and finish with food or coffee.
Keep Conversation Part of the Plan
For me, a trip is not only about checking places off a list. I enjoy asking people about their favorite food, hobbies, travel dreams, or places they would like to visit next. Those small conversations can make a short trip much more memorable.
Conclusion
CP gives me plenty of ways to turn an ordinary day into a mini adventure. I can explore history, shop at markets, enjoy cafés, discover new streets, and spend time having meaningful conversations. If I am meeting someone new, I would always keep the outing public and let a trusted adult know about my plans.
If you could choose just three places in CP for your next mini-trip, which three would you pick—and who would you want to share the experience with?
